Founded in 2010 by commercial finance attorney Stephen Crawford, the firm is known for providing sophisticated advice and diligent representation to banking institutions. Headquartered in Key Tower in downtown Cleveland, Ohio, the firm also has offices in Canton, Ohio and Youngstown, Ohio.

STEPHEN CRAWFORD

FOUNDING MEMBER, ATTORNEY

Stephen Crawford is the founding member of Crawford Law and has twenty-five years of experience representing lenders, developers, and investors in commercial banking, real estate, and litigation matters. Mr. Crawford’s practice focuses on loan originations, creditors’ rights litigation, real estate development, and loss mitigation. Steve has practiced real estate and corporate law with some of the nation’s largest and most prestigious real estate developers and international law firms. He is also the founder of Everest Land Title Agency Ltd., a national tile agent, and Signifyde Inc., a cloud-based identity and transaction management platform.

Notable Representations:

  • Represents national banks and GSE servicers in commercial and consumer creditors rights and loss mitigation matters
  • Borrower’s counsel and title agent for $267MM purchase of Key Center—including the 57-story Key Tower (Ohio’s tallest building), the Cleveland Downtown Marriott Hotel, and the Memorial Plaza Parking Garage
  • Advised purchaser in the acquisition of 728-room Century Plaza Hotel and Spa in Century City, California and managed team of six attorneys in closing the acquisition of six Renaissance hotels
  • Title and settlement agent for $200 million bond defeasance and redemption in acquisition of ten-property affordable housing portfolio (New York, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Indiana, Louisiana, North Carolina, and Tennessee)
  • Advised the Unsecured Creditors of Enron Corp. in the sale of assets in the $65.5 billion Enron bankruptcy—the sixth largest bankruptcy in world history
  • Counsel to Reed Elsevier Inc. in acquisition of Saxon Publishers, Inc. and International Steel Group (ISG) in the disposition of real estate following acquisition of LTV Steel assets.

ROBERT MODERALLI

ATTORNEY

Robert Moderalli represents creditors in litigation involving creditors’ rights, foreclosure, breach of contract, forcible entry and detainer, bankruptcy, and eviction. Mr. Moderalli’s loss mitigation experience includes commercial and residential mortgage loan workouts and deed in lieu of foreclosure transactions.

  • Represents national banks and GSE servicers in commercial and consumer creditors rights and loss mitigation matters
  • Lead attorney for national bank client before the Ohio Eighth District Court of Appeals in successful defense of mortgage foreclosure action
